Hey Alabama Tennis Friends!
Here’s your next Summer Update from Senior, Jacqueline Pelletier.
Hi everyone!
First, I wanted to thank you for your amazing support last year. We really appreciate the energy you bring as a part of our family, you truly helped us play some of our best tennis all season. I will never forget what we accomplished in home SEC wins against Kentucky, Auburn, Missouri, and Arkansas. Hope to see you this upcoming season as it will be Alba, Ann, Kim, Lu, and my last tennis season playing for Alabama.
For my summer update, after we finished school and playing NCAA’s I went home to spend a few weeks at home with my family in South Carolina. I included a picture below of my Dad, two younger brothers, and I at our community golf course. It was a blast and I am very blessed to have spent time with everyone all together as my middle brother Beau is at the University of South Carolina on the men’s tennis team and Pierce is an amazing golfer and upcoming senior in high school. I also knocked out an online geology summer school class, I learned more about rocks than I think I will ever need!
Then, I headed to Huntsville as I accepted an internship at Boeing in finance. It has been both wonderful and very challenging 40 hour work weeks. Through connections with our Coaches, after work I have been training every day in Huntsville. I stopped by T-town on my way down from South Carolina to Huntsville to hit with and am very proud of the way Alba and Moka practiced and trained everyday while taking summer classes.
I have played two ITA collegiate events. The first was at the University of Alabama where Moka, Alba and I all made the quarterfinals in singles. Alba and I played in the semifinals for a great battle and grueling match of 5-7, 7-5 in which she took the final 10 point tie breaker to go to the finals. In doubles, I played with Ann Marie Hiser who will be a rising senior this year and a great addition to our Alabama team next year in August 2020. We played Moka and Alba in an all Alabama final, winning in a tiebreak. Both before and after the final I really enjoyed singing songs with Alba and Moka even in the ice bath. Also Alba has taught Moka some new dance moves, so watch out the cuteness level bumped up several notches. I attached a picture below of Moka, Alba, myself, and Ann Marie. It was super fun to spend time battling alongside my teammates and to see Coaches Jenny, Jonatan, and Keith. They had great advice and encouragement for us. Least to say I was a little sun burnt, walking around the office in Huntsville the following day ! I played the second ITA this weekend at Middle Tennessee State where I competed well and have continued to grow my game.
For the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 launch, the U.S Space and Rocket Center is attempting to break the Guinness Book of World Records in launching 5,000 model rockets at the exact time of the Apollo 11 launch on July 16th. Boeing being a sponsor, I got the opportunity to volunteer along with my fellow interns and coworkers to build these model rockets. I attached below a picture of us holding a few of the rockets we built.
Hope everyone is having a great summer. God speed and Roll Tide Roll!
