Dear Friends of TTA,
Once again, we are delighted to announce that the Tuscaloosa Tennis Association will host the 2nd annual Emily Baker Women’s Classic tennis tournament on February 22-24, 2018 at Center Court Tuscaloosa.
Following the momentum of last year’s tournament, the proceeds of this event will go to the Emily Baker Scholarship and Youth Tennis Fund, which was established during the inaugural tournament in March 2017.
With the funds raised in 2017, TTA partnered with PARA and USTA’s Net Generation program to pursue one of Emily’s dreams and take tennis into elementary schools. This fall, from the tournament proceeds, we took the game into 6 area elementary schools, and served 590 students. It is, undoubtedly, the support of our generous community that we were able to reach so many children. This is TTA’s way of honoring Emily and her commitment to build and grow tennis in Tuscaloosa.
So, this year, we are asking that you consider playing, but also giving at any of the Patron levels. All patrons will be recognized at the welcoming Players Party, Closing Awards Ceremony and throughout the tournament. All Patrons are welcome at the Players Party, held at CCT on Thursday, February 22nd at 6:00 pm for cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a celebration of Emily Baker.
We invite all to celebrate and honor Emily by becoming a Patron or donating to the Emily Baker Scholarship and Youth Tennis Fund to continue Emily’s dream of growing tennis in Tuscaloosa.
